Scary Yet True

Have you ever heard of undercover advertising?

Today in class the Professor was discussing that and he showed us a clip that explains more about the topic. Let me tell you it’s pretty damn disgusting.
Here’s how it works, some companies, small and big will hire people from all ages depending on their product audience, the way they market is they give the product to those individuals that they hire and send them to crowded public places like coffee shops.

They use their product in front of the public for instance; Sony advertised their camera phone through giving it to a good looking couple. This couple would go to the crowded streets and pretend that they are tourists so they ask all those rich/ business men that are walking on their way to work, they ask them to take a picture of them and ask the people isn’t this cool phone? If the people like it the couple would ask them for their email address of which they will send them the information of the product. In other words, deception is the key for this advertising, instead of coming on the customer as a salesman or advertiser they deceive him/her to like their products without putting pressure on the customer to buy the product or not.

What do you think of this kind of advertising?
I think it’s very deceptive and just make me trust no one out there.
here’s the proof

Taco Bell Story

Posted by Mo | General, Thoughts | Thursday 14 October 2004 1:09 am

My buddy and I usually go to Taco Bell everyone once in a while after our late 10 pm class. You gotta grab something to eat after 6 hours of class. Anyways there’s this old lady, well not too old about 45 working at the cashiers of Taco Bell every time we go there. The first time we went there she was all smiling and stuff we figured she’s excited to be there or somthing. What the hell right, so I go and order some tacos, she types something wrong on the order, and then she goes don’t worry about it. I asked her if I need to pay for that she’s like no; I was like ok. So I got a free burrito. So my friend gets his order and he goes dude she was totally checking you out I was like dude she’s old, gross. Today went to taco again and she gave me a free pop and free taco because of another mistake she made? Hmm riiight! I was like ok. She asked my friend is your buddy always that serious. I started laughing my ass off. I was scared of giving her any leads or you know some sort of signs that I’m interested in which in this case I’m not. So I had the serious face on.

Oh well I guess I either attract old ladies or she is too damn dumb, what do you know!

Have You Ever?

Posted by Mo | Thoughts | Thursday 14 October 2004 12:57 am

1. Have you ever felt like you can see it, you can do it, yet you can’t? Due to some sort of reasons.
2. Have you ever wanted to do something yet you wait on doing it and then you don’t do it?
3. Have you ever felt like you were going to win something and so close to winning it yet you don’t?
4. Have you ever wanted to tell something shut the F up; but you didn’t because of respect?
5. Have you ever thought that you are being fooled by someone yet he is an excellent talker?
6. Have you ever listened to someone and believed their bullshit because their BS sounds so good?
7. Have you ever known that there is something that is labeled as Quality-Professional- Bullshit? Oh that makes sense!
8. Have you ever laughed your ass off without knowing why?
9. Have you ever looked at someone and deeply thought; shit what was he thinking? I would’ve never done that?
10. Have you ever looked at a girl and said, damn she is smart?

Project Manager

Posted by Mo | Personal, Thoughts | Thursday 7 October 2004 10:58 am

I was selected to be the Project Manager of our group project. The whole class was split into three groups. We have to work on designing a website for small or big business; describing our design web team and why they should chose us to design or rebuild their whole site. The funny thing I’m the youngest PM in the whole class and of course in my group but it’s all about respect and how you present yourself. YOU COMMAND THE RESPECT! So we came up with a name “Great Lakes Web Solutions” and I split the assignments for everyone and tried to apply as much knowledge as I could from the “Apprentice”. Since how I’m a big fan of that show, I tend to know what a good PM is and what is NOT.
So far so good, I split the work according to everyone’s strong points and skills. For instance we have our content designers, our Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I’m the PM/Layout Designer.

I like being PM just because of the fact that I know for sure that we are going to get things time at a certain time. I’ve been in groups before where I’m not, and if the PM is not organized/on top of things the whole project goes to shit. Hopefully I can live up to the hype!

My Theory

Posted by Mo | Personal, Thoughts | Thursday 9 September 2004 5:34 pm

Negative VS Positive

I think I have a certain theory about how life functions and how we react to it. My theory is called “The NEGPOS Theory”

Almost everything in life works on the scientific theory saying “Action and Reaction”. The way I look at it is; We go through two phases in accomplishing a task. The first phase I refer to it as the Negative phase and the second phase the positive phase.

Negative phase: entitles us going through the process or either working or thinking or doing or even close to accomplishing a task. It’s not achieving the task it’s the process in which we go through in order to finish a certain task or goal. For instance, we go to work, so we can get paid and live and prosper in life as well as go through the stages of life. Now working by itself is the process in which we are going to accomplish the paycheck. So working is the negative phase.

Positive phase: is accomplishing our negative phase or achieving our goals, whether they are getting paid, wining, losing weight, whatever that is our goal. So if we take the example above which is working to get paid, hence getting paid will be the positive phase. Another example, going on a diet would be the negative, losing weight would be the positive. One last example, looks at electricity in order for it to work you need both negative and positive forces, so there you go.

As a conclusion I think regardless of all the theories out there, this one theory (NEGPOS) summarizes a big portion of our lives. We always have to go through the negatives to reach the positive outcomes. Its part of life and it’s the 2 stages in which we have to take to become successful in life.

Photoblogs VS Weblogs

Weblogs are for people that like to write and read.

1- People that like to share their thoughts about different topics.
2- People that find comfort in writing what goes through their minds.
3- People that like to post about their success or failures.
4- People that like to get input on interesting debates.
5- People that seek a place to express themselves openly and freely.
