What is Drama?

Posted by Mo | Thoughts | Wednesday 9 June 2004 1:39 pm

Is it when people try to make a mountain out of a mole? Is it there because people can’t function without some drama in their lives? Or Does drama just happens?

Drama as listed in the Merriam Webster Dictionary; Drama: a composition in verse or prose intended to portray life or character or to tell a story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and typically designed for theatrical performance:

We live our lives going through the bad and the good; the ups and downs and we have to deal with problems and issues most of the time. In my point of view dealing with problems is part of life; so I can understand some people being a little dramatic when they have problems. I have no trouble with that. However my thing is when people change everything or anything they face into drama. I refer to them as the PITA dramatic people. Is it that some people can’t go on with life without drama?

Some people need to have drama in their lives to achieve excitement? “No drama No excitement”. That is sick my friend. I turn to my problems or issues and try to solve them according to rational and logical ways. I think everyone or anyone can be dramatic about something however it takes great attitudes and great characters to behave differently.

So is it ok to be dramatic some of the time? It’s not up to me to say whether it is or not, but it’s my opinion to say that a little drama is permissible because were all humans and we all got emotions and feelings that interfere in our problems and lives.

Can you stop people from being dramatic?
I guess you can try; but who is born dramatic is and will be so. Our environment shapes us for whether to be or not to be.

Why is it so big of a deal for you with people that are dramatic?

I think it’s an add-on to things in other words it’s unneeded trouble in most of the scenarios. People that get too dramatic, get on my nerves.

I’d like to know what people think of drama in general and people that are dramatic!

The Risk Of Redesign

Posted by Mo | Design | Monday 7 June 2004 2:28 pm

I ran into this fascinating article on Asterisk. It’s a very interesting topic and very important for web designers and web users in general. By D. Keith Robinson These are few points taken from the article.

A few ways you can help your users with a redesign:

1- Make sure you really need a redesign first. There are many, many times when it might not be worth the risk, let alone the time and effort.
2- Set concrete, realistic goals for your new design and stick to them. Don’t get too crazy.
3- Let your visitors know it’s coming beforehand.
4- User test your new design before you launch. At least have a few “user representatives” go through the site and offer feedback.
5- Consider a staged approach instead. Maybe you just need to enhance portions of your site, not the whole thing.
6- Consider a beta version to let people try it out first.
7- Gather feedback about what your visitors would like from a redesign before you begin.
8- Respond to feedback (both before and after relaunch) and make changes if needed.

Check this article out. Bottom line is don’t do a do over if it’s not needed; because your users get used to you’re design and might not be willing to readapt to different design. Think of it as a new upgrade for a software, a lot of people are not willing to go and do an upgrade, just because of the fact that they are already used to work with the old software. Some people are still using Win95 instead of XP why?? Same reason!

20 Miles

Posted by Mo | Personal | Sunday 6 June 2004 6:30 pm

It’s been quite a weekend of exercising. Nick and I averaged a total of 20 miles on the bike this weekend. We went on the Swan Creek trail in Saginaw for our first 12 miles; then on the next day we went about 8 miles in Saginaw city. I can say that my legs are pretty sore but not too bad like I thought they would be. So you gotta a bike and wanna go on a trail with us? Let me know and will figure something out. I bought a speedometer to my trek bike. It’s pretty sweet; it tells the average speed, total distance, max speed and it tells you whether you’re going faster or slower than you’re average speed “while riding”. Biking is fun!

Interesting topic about weblogs is found at this site. It shows howmuch blogs are getting popular and spreading across Japan and US.

“Weblogs are doing a lot of what people were excited about the Net when it first came out — the fact that anyone can be a publisher” quoted from CNN.

Go Pistons !!

They beat the Pacers in 6 games and what a series that was! The best defense in the history of the NBA. Now Pistons face Lakers in the NBA Finals. I like both teams; but I gotta vote for my boys Detroit Pistons! Kick Ass!
