Biased VS Unbiased

What is a biased? Who is biased? How can you be biased? When do you know that this is biased information? Same thing applies to Unbiased and same questions.

I always wonder if one can get unbiased information from humans. It seems to me that no matter how hard people try to be unbiased they are always somewhat biased to what they think. Fore instance let’s say I want to know if certain software is dependable or not. My first step is to go and ask the people that use it. Now let’s say group A used it and had problems with it, they are going to obviously tell me the software is not as good. Now take group B, and let’s say they had good experience with it. The feedback from B is going to be it’s a good piece of software. So at this point I got two groups that totally contradict one another yet they use the same software? What am I to think at this point? The software is good or not?? That’s one example where people have to be biased to things they know since they experienced it. Another example is marriage. If you ask a certain happy couple how is marriage? The answer is good. How about asking someone that was divorced 3 times? Well duh he/she is going to say marriage sucks.

So I know you’re saying well how about statistics! In my perspective statistics are not always right. Let’s say you take a sample of 500 people in the south of America and ask them about marriage you have a fifty fifty chance of them saying it works or it sucks. That’s if it was perfect statistics. But what if that sample was more agreeing towards marriage is bad. Does that make marriage bad for me or you? Or just for South Americans? So the way I see it is, you have to have a much bigger sample and one that applies to everyone. Which is pretty much impossible?

Another example is News. You can never get unbiased info from news. Every nation is going to be biased to its own. So how are we supposed to get unbiased info? Where? The way I got to learn this is, you have to basically experience everything on your own. Whether it’s a piece of software or marriage or whatever your are going to have to try it on your own to get to know whether it’s good for you or not. Forget about statistics it’s a bunch of ridiculous numbers to me. You and only you will decide whether X is good for you or not. At the end this is what I think according to my perspectives, you don’t have to agree with me and I don’t want you to otherwise I’ll be biased
Peace

I agree that you will get biased information everywhere, but that is what makes this world great. Everyone has their own opinion. I have to disagree though on statistics. I think they are very useful for a lot of things when they are done correctly.

Well I never mentioned that it’s not good to be opinionated. However the point is, it’s extremely hard to get the right information from a certain crowd. Since everyone is going to be biased to his or her own beliefs. Take religion forinstance everyone is going to tell you theirs is the most believable or whatever. It’s upto you to figure it on your own. That’s why I said gotta experiment things on your own. On the other hand I guess your right about the statistics.. That’s why I said there not always right
