Let me start this post by saying we choose our own mental state. We choose to think about whatever we want when we want, so we do have the power over our brains. I’m going to start by giving a scenario on how we can control our state of thinking and alter it’s behaviour.

This weekend I was playing tennis indoors for the league. It was early in the morning at 9 am, my body felt like it was still sleeping and not ready yet. We started playing doubles and I flat out was playing my worst tennis. We lost 0-6, 0-6. The first two sets, so I went to my partner and said well let’s step it up a notch and he said well ” when I don’t warm up 5 minutes before the match I play like crap” I said well do your best. Let’s compare my mental state and his at this point. He already determined that he’s playing like shit and not ready to alter that behaviour ; in otherwords he surrendered to his negativity. On the other hand, I wanted to take action and change my behaviour or attitude towards the way I’m playing. So I from that point on, was playing not just good tennis but my best tennis. After the match was over, I realized what I was capable of doing or altering in my own power.

We choose whether we want to be this or that we do have the power to change our own mental state so why not take action and do things about it right now.
