Are We or Not?
Are we living our lives moment at a time?
Let’s say you are washing the dishes after a long day of work, and you decided that you want to drink a cup of tea right after you’re done with the dishes. Now while washing the dishes you are going to be thinking about that cup of tea, in other words your not living the present time which is washing the dishes “time”, yet your are thinking ahead of time about that cup of tea. The same thing goes when you’re done with the dishes and you’re drinking the tea; in your mind, now your thinking I want to read that “X” book. So technically you’re not enjoying the cup of tea, thinking of the “X” book and so on.
Basically were not living the events at the present time, which means we are missing on little things that we don’t realize were missing on. It goes on and on; we get to the conclusion that we always fail to see our present time, trying to think of the next thing. I think this is different from multitasking in the sense that when we are multitasking we still have the sense of what were doing which brings me to think that it’s different from thinking about the next thing.
I don’t know I was wondering myself about this; if you have any interesting information please share it. Stuff like that triggers the mind to think about things that we might never actually think about it. You don’t have to agree with me; just state your opinion if you don’t mind.

But if you don’t have a plan for the future….then you’ll miss out on those moments and you will never enjoy the present moment because you will not have planned for it. Like I say…Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance!!

I didn’t quite mean, don’t plan for the future. My point was were missing on little things because were too busy thinking about the next thing. You don’t have to set your liftime goals when you’re drinking tea, you gotta enjoy it and set your goals on a different occasion. Does that make sense to you bro?

I totally understand what you mean. You can’t constantly worry about what you’re going to do next or how things will turn out. Sometimes you do have to think about those things, but sometimes it’s better to enjoy the moment. Why spend all of your time worrying about the future when it gives you no time to enjoy it??

Oh…I totally agree you have to live in the moment of things, I thought you were meaning to strictly do that all the time…my bad bro.

It’s all good.. The funny thing is a lot of people go through life and never get to know what they have missed on!! So hopefully this post will help educate some of us

Technically there is not a PRESENT state in time, because by the time you look at one particular instance, it will already have been made history.

I think if you focus on the present you will miss out on opportunities that arise. What happens when you are so focused on washing the dishes that you don’t answer the phone and its an important call?

The example you gave is a little different. Because of the fact that when you get a phone call; that’s another thing happening at the same time, which means not the “next thing”. However while doing the dishes and thinking about the cup of tea .. your thinking about the next thing your going to do, which is in that case drinking.
